  1. Anyone have any experience contesting a speeding ticket, or alternatively, lobbying for changes to neighborhood road rules? 

    Wife got caught by a portable camera on the road beside our house. We’ve lived here 10+ years and didn’t know it’s a 30 zone as everyone does at least 50, and it’s a very wide road with separate sidewalks so you could go 70-80 quite safely. 

    I doubt there’s much we can do to contest it, but would like to see if there’s anything we can do to try to get the limit raised so that we’re not paying a ticket like this every few months, or spend way too much time crawling up the road 

  3. When I made the 2 year contract to rent my apartment, they required me to use a guarantor company of their choosing. They asked information about my job and even asked proof, I had to show my latest payslip. I’m being extorted half a month of rent, and have to pay 1,000 yen fee each month for “processing fee”, all in all 84,000 for 2 years.

    What will happen when the contract expires? Will they ask for my job information again to renew it? What will happen if I’m unemployed at that time?

  4. My local Tsutaya is closing. Now if I want to go to a book store I have to travel 45 minutes away. :/ 

    I hope a different book store chain takes its place.

  5. One of those “we’ll take away your trash for free” guys came yesterday. My wife said she wasn’t interested. He came again today. Wife said to buzz off. Seems like he went for a bit of a wander by the garage. Rang the doorbell again for some reason and this time he was in his truck already. Why on earth would he hit it again on the way out. Sus as fuck. I told him we weren’t interested in no uncertain terms. I have his face on camera and I have more cameras I’m sure he didn’t see, but not a feeling I enjoy having.

  6. Coworker is a full blown fujoshi. They found out that I buy and sell anything as long as a profit can be made.

    Now that isn’t generally a problem but I have seen more yaoi in the last 24 hours than what I generally see in a year, in DMs, on both work and personal accounts.

    I’m tempted to block them on personal accounts, work wise we dont’ care if we send memes or shopping lists or whatever, just no nsfw

  7. Is it me or has the stocks in family marts across Tokyo feeling empty? The family mart near my station and work has alot of empty shelves and wondering what’s happening

  8. Am I fine to send a bookmark as a letter/normal envelop/postage stamp to the USA? I assume I can, but idk what’s new with all the bullshit going on over there.

    Also, sad to see the Muji in Itabashi closed (back in november apparently). Was friggin’ huge, and away from all the crazy foot traffic. But I guess that’s exactly why it’s closed.

  9. How do I dispose of household cleaners and stuff?

    My city website and trash fliers didn’t have any useful info, and I don’t want to just dump a bunch of chemicals down the drain, especially solvents and flammable stuff.
