AEON Initial interview

Hi I just wanted to let anyone know an up to date info on the first interview with AEON!

Firstly it was with a really nice lady and there was only her,

She asked me to stand up and introduce myself and why I want to teach English in Japan! (So don’t wear pjs!!)

She then asked me the general interview questions, why I want to teach, why AEON, what experiences in your life e.g. has given you what skills to be a successful teacher etc.

Then she basically said she would like to see that I understand the expectations and job role with AEON- which is basically a quiz if you memorised a few key things that the company offers e.g:

  • The salary which was 275,000 per month
  • how many day are you expected to work a week
(5 days – Tuesday to Saturday)
  • What time you are expected to work (10-9pm between those hours)

Then they asked me my understanding of the business requirements (all of this you can find on their website and is advised on the interview email)

  • Lobbytalk (make sure you understand what that means)
-1 to 1 counselling – help the students see their progress
    -Interview/demo classes
    -selling textbook etc.

I genuinely showed interest and explained how I think these requirements are good and important

She also asked me what stood out about AEON compared to all the other companies which did stump me a bit but yeah prepare for that 🙂

They then let me know about the apartment, that you don’t need to drive you’ll be placed near your school. She asked me my preferences on location, I said anywhere I’m flexible, and also whether I had a preference working with children or adults again I said I’m flexible.

Lastly she talked about the next steps, group online interview then an in person interview.

She then gave me a verbal invitation to the next step and said I seem like I have a nice personality etc!

I was mainly trying to smile the whole time, show my genuine interest in helping the company and students develop their English to help them in the future and was very professionally dressed.

Hope this helps anyone 🙂
