Hi everyone! 👋
My wife and I are currently house hunting in Japan and could really use some help, especially from anyone who’s been through a similar process or knows a good realtor (we can speak around business-level Japanese). Here are our details:
About us:
We’re both on working visas (no PR/residency yet), and have been living in Japan for 7 years.
Our current apartment contract ends in 2 months (March 2026), so we’re trying to find a house soon.
What we’re looking for:
🏡 Budget: up to ¥30 million
💰 Down payment: up to 20% (about ¥7 million)
🏠 Property type: Ideally a 新築一戸建て (newly built single-family home)
📍 Location: Within ~1 hr 30 min of Myogadani Station (Tokyo) by train
Questions for the community:
1. Does anyone know any realtors in the Tokyo / Chiba / Saitama / Ibaraki area who work with foreigners?
- Any insights on buying as foreigners, especially with working visas (no PR) — things to watch out for, requirements, or pitfalls?
Any other tips or resources (websites, agents, experiences) that helped you in your home-buying journey here would be super appreciated!
We are flexible but want to make sure we make a good decision and find someone experienced to guide us.
Thanks in advance! 🙏
