In December 2021, our family of four moved from Chiyoda, Tokyo to Uruma City, Okinawa.
Uruma City, Okinawa, ranks first in low income, with many single-parent and large families, making it difficult for children to take extracurricular lessons.
So, we decided to revitalize local community centers and run an affordable dance club for elementary school students, where they can take acting and dance lessons from professionals.
The students are mainly preschoolers and elementary school children. We started with about 10 students, and in three years since its founding, the club has grown to over 160 students.
The team has even won competitions and received requests to perform as backup dancers at LIVE events.
Dance instruction is handled by my wife, former Southern All Stars backup dancer Ayapanda. I teach the children things like voice projection.
The children practice at the community center, which lacks the full-length mirrors of a dance studio. They gather mirrors together and practice diligently every day.
Sometimes mirrors leaned against the stage edges fall and break.
This time, we want to install practice mirrors at the community center. Mirrors made of shatterproof materials and movable versions cost over 100,000 yen each.
We are seeking support to raise 1,000,000 yen to install practice mirrors in each community center.
