Tokyo Commuter Pass and is it worth it?

I just recently moved to Tokyo where I will be working here for the next 8 months. I live near Ichikawa, and my work is in Sumida.

So far, I've taken the sobu line (rapid), but from time to time will have to use the chou-sobu line (both from JR East iirc). I also want to explore Tokyo when I get the chance on the weekend.

Anyways, just for context, I come from Canada and most cities in Canada offer monthly passes that provide unlimited rides in their transportation system. I am wondering if this is the case here in Tokyo?

If so, is it better to buy that pass? Or just load my Suica card that I was able to get on my iPhone?
