Tattoo Friendly Gym / Swim / Sento?

Hi there,

No judgements please, just looking for straight advice.

I have enough tattoos that I cant wear tape. Can anyone recommend any tattoo friendly gym / swim and / or sento please? Im based around yamashina area for at least 1 year.

First hand experience is better as searching online, many advertised by others as tattoo friendly turn out not to be.

Recommendations in osaka welcome too.

  2. I can help. I live just south of Yamashina in Daigo and frequent sentos and the gym.

    Sento wise, I can say with experience, Daigo yu-topia is tattoo friendly. I see many people covered in tatts; head to toe. There’s another one further south in the Uji area but a bit remote to get to without a car, but also very tattoo friendly.

    There’s a few sentos around yamashina area I haven’t been to yet, but generally, they are chill with tattoos. Most public baths are in my experience.

    Gym wise, I’d recommend Pit in gym in Nagitsuji. It’s a little south from Yamashina. Tattoo friendly and is an actual gym; proper dumbbells, machines and squat and bench areas. Only downside is that it has weird opening hours. I love going there.

  3. At Funaoka Onsen (82-1 Murasakino Minamifunaokacho, Kita Ward, Kyoto, 603-8225, Japon) I’ve seen a lady wearing a beautiful full-back and arms tattoo.
