I purchased a somewhat pricey guitar amp a couple of years ago only for it to unceremoniously crap out on me recently. It was a local Japanese market product, used pretty lightly (at home, no gigs), with a power conditioner to avoid damage from the wiring in my fairly old apartment building. I sent it to the Japanese distributor for a repair, and they came back to me with a repair quote of about 30% of the price of the amp!
Now, looking online, it seems many users of this amp in other parts of the world have had the exact same issue where it dies just out of warranty only to leave them with an expensive brick. I was thinking that I may be able to go to the NCAC (title) for support with this (defectivly designed product outside of warranty). I've searched their site in both English and Japanese, but can't really find anything about situations like this. My Japanese partner simply says I shouldn't call them because Japanese people usually wouldn't kick up a fuss about things like this and either pay the repair fee or bin it and get a new one.
I'm not super strapped for cash so I can (begrudgingly) afford the few 万円 for the repair, but it's more of a principle thing where I feel I shouldn't have to pay repair costs for what is a defectively designed product.
Has anyone here had any experience with the NCAC for similar issues? Was just wondering about people's experiences or any advice about things like this before I just pick the phone up and call their hotline for advice.
