I think my post was taken in the completely wrong context lol. I don’t have a problem with Tanahashi losing his last match, which is what most of the comments were critiquing me on. No, that’s what should have happened, he should have put someone over, that’s not what I have a problem with. I have a problem with it being Okada, someone who does not work for the company and does not benefit the company at all by retiring their biggest legend of the century.
Instead, as I said, I think in his last match it would have been way more beneficial to New Japan’s future if he was retired [and was still pinned*] by a young up and comer to establish that wrestler as a future top star.
I honestly completely agree with Yota Tsuji, AEW has been the biggest reason for the decline of New Japan. Things like this are the reason why, because even in one of the most symbolic moments in the history of NJPW, an AEW contracted wrestler gets the nod.
Stop catering to AEW. It’s tiring.
