Just started dating in Japan, Ive got questions😂

27M

Im in Osaka thinking of moving to Tokyo. (resident btw😅)

So apparently the only way to meet people to date here is if you work with them or school. If you dont have those associations, then it’s straight to apps?

Anyways I started talking with a girl off bumble. The vibe has been there so I asked her on a date. She recommended we go to a famous shrine, and I told her we should start simple with coffee. (it would be awkward to commit to something like a shrine with a stranger for almost a whole day lol)

She said “Yes you choose the time” since she decides her work schedule.

I said “how about this friday?” (in 3 days)

Then she said “I’ll be in Tokyo on Thursday, and after that I’ll be a bit busy😭How about a weekday in February?”

(thats over two weeks from now😳)

I really dont know Japan well yet, but in USA ive never planned a first date more than a few days into the future without it completely losing momentum and falling through. Is this normal in japan?? Or is she doing the slow-fade away as i suspect? scheduling our first date 2-3 weeks from now is crazy work IMO😂

Also, why doesnt anyone show their face on tinder? Like how am i supposed to swipe right on them like its blind dating? Lmao what a joke.. genuinely curious too

Bumble seems way better anyways.
