Hi! I have a trip set for March 28 through April 5th which falls smack-dab in the middle of the cherry blossom season.
I’ve started looking a hotels and I’m not quite sure what is too expensive for a business hotel or where I could get the best price considering the season. I’ve looked through airbnb as well but I would prefer the ability to pay in person rather than ahead to reserve which complicates things further.
As for accommodations, I’m traveling in a group of four and we wouldn’t mind staying anywhere in the city, I live in NYC so I am very used to a long commute to get anywhere. We are spending 3 days in Tokyo and 4 days in Kyoto with a day trip to Nara and Osaka planned.
Do you guys have any tips or recommendations? Does anyone have any experience booking ahead of time during cherry blossom season or is it better to wage your bets and book closer to the flight?
This is my first time booking for a foreign trip and I’m feeling quite overwhelmed by the amount of options. I’m incredibly excited to be planning this trip but now I’m not so sure if I picked the most financially prudent time of year, so I am open to having to pay the up charges if need be.
