Rejected from apartment because our dog is a shiba. They said pets allowed.

Sorry, I'm mostly just venting.

Currently looking for a new apartment, and I was excited because I finally found a new place that I liked that supposedly allows pets and fits my specs. Pretty difficult in Tokyo. Anyway we applied with all the standard info, but they ultimately rejected us because my dog is a shiba.

He fits their weight limit and he's a super good boy. It's probably some weird shiba reputation thing management companies follow, but they said all shibas are considered 中型犬 even if it's a 豆柴. I qualify for the apartment in all other ways. My agent doesn't seem to be able to get them to negotiate even if I offer meeting, showing records, or paying an extra deposit.

The management company even said I can apply with "no pet", but otherwise they will discard my application. I don't know if they're insinuating I lie even after I told them I have a dog, or to abandon my dog. Either way it's weird.

I can respect their policy, but it's just annoying.
