I’m going to move to a new place this weekend and everything is so nerve wrecking 😭 i’m scared i will forget something and only notice when it’s too late 😭😭
Also does anyone have dentist reccomendation in fukuoka?
Someone recently posted her account of going through a surgical abortion in Japan, and it was removed. Why?
I think it’s very helpful for the foreigner community in Japan to have in dire times!
In the eyes of the government are we in 令和8年? I got a pension payment slip yesterday that says the due date is 令和8年1月5日 but the slip wasn’t issued until the 13th, and wasn’t delivered until yesterday. I just entered 国民年金 so I was expecting the slips to come in, but I am confused whether or not I’m automatically 2 weeks late or have an entire year to pay it?
Today my students were given the question “Did Miki go to Finland in June?” (already translated into Japanese btw). The passage contains the “the sun set at 2pm” and “in June, the sun doesn’t go down.” So, not the exact answer, but possible to figure out.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of kids who just immediately typed the question into various AI chatbots 😭. Even among those who didn’t immediately run to AI, pretty much nobody got the answer right because nobody can read. Normally I’m not a doomer about kids but this is very discouraging and concerning.
I want to make bigger payments on my student loans by making maybe 3 larger payments a year but exchanging 70,000~100,000 just makes me cry inside because I am losing like half of that in the exchange.
Any golfers here who know about the Japanese “ダブルペリア” handicap system? Mostly used in one-off competitions, to try an make scoring more-fair when nobody has an official handicap.
Never could understand what the ペリア katakana meant; but, today in an unrelated thread, discovered it is actually “Double Peoria”, which is somewhat common in the USofA.
That concludes my TED talk.
stunlocked the entire afternoon doomscrolling. fuck me
