I am getting all my paperwork ready for my application. I was married in Japan over 20 years ago. My wife called the immigration office and they said I needed a marriage certificate from the US government. He added this was a new requirement. As far as I checked, the US government doesn’t provide such proof and moreover no proof exists since we were married in Japan.
Who is misinformed here?
