This isn't detailed I'm just trying to figure out our route, so I hope this is okay.
This is my second time visiting Japan and I'm bringing my family this time (wife and 4 yr old son). Right now this is what we're thinking.
5 nights Tokyo
3 nights Kyoto
4 nights somewhere in the middle of Kyushu
1 night Ryokan stay somewhere on Kyushu
4 nights in Tokyo
After typing this I realize there's a lot of time in Tokyo, but that's because I loved it so much last time. Our main thing is we wanted to stay somewhere in peaceful nature for a good chunk. I want to visit the ends of the archipelago and my wife isn't sold on Hokkaido, so Kyushu seems like a good spot to slow down. We're thinking of renting an Airbnb in Oita where we would relax and take a couple day trips (Takachiho Gorge, some beach, Yufuin). Then fly back to Tokyo.
Any advice on the route or recommendations for Kyushu? We're concerned it's too much travel and distance with a 4 year old. We're not sold on Kyushu so feel free to sell us on other possible routes.
