I’m currently living in Japan and wanted to ask about general salon culture here.
When getting a haircut in Japan, is it normal or acceptable to show reference images
(for example, anime or character-inspired hairstyles) to communicate what you want?
I’m not talking about cosplay or extreme styles,
just using character images as a visual reference for things like bangs, layers, or silhouette.
Do stylists usually accept this kind of reference?
And are there any general differences between areas like Tokyo vs Osaka in terms of communication?
I’m not looking for specific salon recommendations,
just general experiences or cultural insight.
