We're staying in Kyoto for 5 days in April with our two small kids, 2 and 5. We knew we wanted a separated bedroom to accommodate different bedtimes, and we know that we wanted to stay roughly in the area around Kawaramachi. So after some research I narrowed it down to two options within our budget:
– Resi Stay Kuon (west of Kawaramachi near Nishiki market)
– Minn Gion Sanjo (east of Kawaramachi, just past Sanjo station)
What would folks recommend between these two? We're not optimizers — we know we want to see the bamboo at Arashiyama and the Torii gates, but outside of that we were planning on just a low-stress hangout with our two small kids. So having a nice place to walk around within a 20-minute radius of the hotel is ideal.
There are a few other temples or gardens I would like to see farther afield (e.g. Ryoan-ji) but it seems like those would be a trek regardless of which of these two locations we pick, so it seems moot!
Thank you!
