What somewhat significant changes in Japanese society have you seen happen here during your time.

Hey everyone. What are some cultural/societal changes you’ve noticed here over the years, for better or worse?

When I first arrived, I was surprised by how few places accepted credit cards. At that time, coming from the US, where I used cards almost everywhere, it felt pretty limiting. I’m glad that’s changed, even if it took a while.

Another thing that surprised me was how uncommon take-out used to be at restaurants. I think the pandemic forced some changes in that aspect, so sometimes I wonder if take-out would still be rare today if the pandemic hadn’t happened.

Anyone else notice big changes in Japan during their time here?
