Update: It was rejected on the ground of late payment of residence tax after my wife quitted her job. As few comments helpfully pointed out, they review the application based on your family. I did get his residence card (1 year) on the spot, so they were helpful in that sense.
A bit of background, I am a PR holder while my wife is under spouse visa (she quitted her job here 2 years ago and living with me since). I have worked as an engineer for all my life in Japan (around 9 years), but I did change my job once 2 years ago, and will start my new job in February. I do not think my salary is an issue.
So, my kid was born in December and we immediately applied for 取得永住, however I just received the mail that it was denied under following reason: 扶養者のこれまでの在留実績からみて、出入国管理及び難民認定法第22条第2項本文の要件に適合すると認められません。
I will be scheduling a hearing with the officer as my first step, to get to the bottom of the reason. But I figure it is most probably the late payment of resident tax of my wife (by few days no less). But my understanding is that since the kid is my dependent, it should not have mattered if my wife’s late payment, should it?
Any similar experience or advice? I am at complete loss now, since I have my hand full preparing for my coming role, and we have not had a full night sleep since coming from the hospital. I am also very tempted to appeal the decisions but so far I have not heard of many successful cases…
Will it be better if I hire a 行政書士 too?
Appreciate your thoughts.
