Most of you on here are probably too rich to care, but from 1pm today all Tokyo residents are eligible for a 11,000 yen giveaway in points (which can be exchanged for Rakuten points, V points, D points, etc).
You need the Tokyo app and a My Number card.
For maximum poikatsu, combine with the D-Point 10% up promotion (running until March 31st), for 12,100 points. That can almost buy a bag of rice these days!

Thanks for the notice. I already registered for the initial ~~5,000 (?)~~ *500* points a while ago. I completely forgot about this.
Rich or not. You’d have to be stupid to pass up on free 11k no strings attached.
Just be aware the demand for this will be astronomical so they’ve been warning people there’ll be connectivity issues. Just keep trying over the next couple days..
Edit: can’t believe I have to say this but “stupid” is hyperbole. Yes, let me be clear: if you make 50m p.a., you have better things to do with your five minutes. Can’t make this up…some people on here, man..
Do you have to be an tomin within Tokyo? What if I live in another prefecture but care to mooch?
> Most of you on here are probably too rich to care
I didn’t know what you were talking about until I saw that this was posted on r/JapanFinance
Tokyo residents only, it looks like.
Kanagawa?
In the end, I am going to take it and transfer it to v point and put it into my sbi S&p500.
already received the 500 points last year.
Turns out not having a MyNumber card now also has financial implications, good move Tokyo
App is “down for maintenance” today until 1pm …
Is the dpoint campaign separate? I saw one that ended Jan 5th for 10% up but couldn’t find one ending March
Don’t live in Tokyo so 対象外 for this.. But let me just ask, won’t it be cheaper overall to just remove it from taxes?
What’s a tokyo app?
Not nearly enough for me to bother to care about those dumb my numbers.
I already went though that once, and then they refused to let me renew it because visa and my number dates do not match.
No Saitama??
sorry, new to tokyo… what are V points and D points?
As a resident of Kanagawa, I think this sucks.
The required デジタル認証アプリ isn’t compatible with my phone so I guess I’ll have to forget about that.
Yeah I’m not here to argue politics or the morality of handing out cash but while this isn’t a silver bullet for affordability and net negative wage growth, it will help people so that’s good.
(Don’t get me started on economics and politics, they’ll certainly ban me on here)
Is this real?
App won’t work on older phones. Way to support the rich only!
This thread is fantastic,
* i don’t want a my number card
*my phone is old, this is tokyo fault
* this is only for tokyo, why no one thinks about us
wow
ps: when will the points be credited?
Can anyone who already did it tell me if you have to scan your actual My Number Card or whether you just need to know your ‘my number’?
Just did the deed.
You have to:
1. Install the Tokyo app
2. Register a new account (not the same as 018 handout for kids in Tokyo even though same domain)
3. Install another app “ディジタル認証アップ” to do the authentication with your MyNumber card
Why the extra app? Why not use the existing MynaPortal app which is issued by the same developer, Japan Digital Ministry, and can already read the cards and even read them directly from your Apple Wallet if you have it registered there (like I do) while that new one can’t?
Does it matter if my name on the Tokyo App is different? My parents loved naming me so much so I have 4 first names which doesnt exactly fit 😅 I usually use my shortened name on different apps/deliveries but not sure about govt. apps.
Maybe dumb question, but how can I combine with the D-Point promotion?
Not worth the MyNu hassle.
My phone isn’t compatible with the “ディジタル認証アップ”. Does that mean I can’t proceed?
Missed out on the ¥500 one but just downloaded the app and applied in less than 5 minutes. Guess I need to see where I can use V points since it’s been a long time since I had more than a few hundred points on any card.
Taking much longer to figure out how to switch over other point cards to the apps…
What about us inaka
