About the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship

My apologies in advance to everyone if this got talked about before, but I had to get my head around a bit on this after catching up to speed on NJPW these days.

As far as I understand, the Global Heavyweight was made after David Finlay destroyed the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship that Osprey was the champion of at the time, leading to the discontinuation of said title and the creation of a new one (The Global Heavyweight) after a 6 year run of its existence.

So function-wise (if this makes sense), the Global is the successor to the US title while its appearance is more in line with the now retired IWGP Intercontinental Title in using a white strap.

What I want to understand is if the Global could be considered as like the successive title to those two titles? As in it's like the secondary title to the primary title that is the revived IWGP Heavyweight title since Yota Tsuji said he'd want to revive that belt, yet he didn't say anything about reviving the former IC title given it was merged with said IWGP Heavyweight Title to make the now-retired World Heavyweight Title.

Is that safe to say, or could I just simply be wrong and that things could change up in the near future on how NJPW handles this belt even now from this point on?

Edit: It's been shown and clarified to me in the comments that Yota Tsuji explained about the IC and Global Titles in the January 6th Press Conference and that while they were "similar", they also weren't exactly the same hence keeping the old IC title retired while still bringing back the old Heavweight and connecting the lineages of the now retired WHC to said Heavyweight title.
