What is with people taking 5-10 minutes in the toilet, in both the men’s and womens toilets? I have never encountered this in any other country (except once or twice in Korea) so I’m wondering if it’s a cultural thing, or maybe Japan just has an insanely high rate of gastrointestinal problems, which doesn’t seem to be the case because the toilets aren’t stinky afterwards! Are people on their phone? Are they just staring into space? Or taking a nap? It’s happened everywhere in Japan, from Kyushu to Tokyo to Aomori. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has noticed this (or maybe I’m just insanely unlucky and every single toilet line in the past year happens to be full of people w specific circumstances that require a prolonged amount of time on the toilet)
