What kind of bars would you like to drink at in Japan?

I'm going out for drinks soon with some foreign friends visiting Japan.
But I've actually never gone drinking with foreigners before.
I'm thinking about taking them to a bar, but do you have any preferences about what kind of bars you like? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Also, if there are any other places you'd like to visit while drinking, please let me know!

  1. If they’re new to Japan, izakaya are always popular. The more rustic, lively and *Japanesey* the better.

  2. 立ち飲み that has a big sake selection for tasting. Rather in a small local neighbourhood, tunnel, older building. Just locals. Nothing fancy. Shinbashi area has been cool for that.

Small local izakayas are always fun too.

Tenma in Osaka is a good example too.

  3. I would bring them to izakaya or something like monjayaki + all you can drink. After this I you want you can go bar or Karaoke

This is so much more fun then just bar

Ps: i was a student in Japan, if your friends are much older, I don’t know

  4. Where?! Seriously, tell us a train station, a neighborhood, and we can point you to the places.
