Can an 18-year-old with zero driving experience pass the driving test in Japan by self-study?

I’m 18 years old and living in Japan, and I’ve never driven a car in my life. I’m thinking about getting a Japanese driver’s license, but driving school is really expensive, so I’m wondering if it’s realistic to pass the test through self-study.

Is it possible to pass both the written and practical driving tests without going to a full driving school if you’re a complete beginner? How hard is the practical test for someone with zero experience?
