Hello. I’m in a same sex marriage (married over seas) to a Japan national. Initially we were goin for get a spousal visa for myself but later learned that Japan does not recognize same sex marriage. My next thought was the designated activities visa because that seems to be a strong route for same sex couples, but realistically I would rather have a visa which could help me get PR fast. I know the smallest amount of Japanese and his family has offered to help me learn more. Our goal is to move to the Ginowan ores in Okinawa but we’re both at a loss as to how to get me legal status in Japan.
For context I’m 21, have completed all my high school years in the states and currently in the states I have certifications for Certified nursing assistant, and medication assistant, but nothing more than that. I know it’s not much for sure but he’s ready to move back home as soon as possible. I’ve busted here for two months and made the confirmation myself that I could envision life here.
If anyone has any experience with the designated activities visa could you also share your experience/tips?
