hello. i was supposed to graduate at the end of march from my language school and then return to my country. however, i received a job offer and the company already applied for my work visa last week. they want me to start in june once the visa is approved. my current student visa is valid until july.
the issue is that the school asked me to enroll for another term until i receive my work visa. they said that if my visa is approved midway, they will refund the remaining amount. at first, i was planning to do this because i thought it was obligatory.
later, i found out that a friend of mine applied for a work visa around the same week, but the school did not ask her to enroll for another term. she will graduate in march and that’s it.
i also wanted to move to another city after graduation because my new job is in a different city, and i wanted some time to settle in before june.
i don’t understand why my case is different, and i don’t want to mention my friend’s situation because i don’t want to get her in trouble. i also don’t want to assume it’s discrimination, my friend is european and i’m from a developing country. maybe it’s a misunderstanding from my friend’s side? i really don’t know!
the problem is that i’m having financial difficulties, and paying for another term would be a big burden. that money would really help me with my daily living expenses instead.
what should i do? am i obligated to do that?
