Does everyone go home on time if tasks are done in your workplace?

I go home at 6 on the dot. Like literally would just start packing at 5:58. Unless of course, there are other stuff I need to do.

Told my Japanese friend this, and she told me that even if she finished her tasks, she waits for the senpai's to go home (like an hour or so) or wait for someone to tell her to go home..

I find this very odd and I wonder if this is common?

I work at an international environment so everyone goes home on the dot and don't wait yp for no one
