I thought about it, and I've decided that this will be the last full results post I do. In the future, I may just do an overview of important notes from matches and whatnot instead of describing every little detail. I was planning on staying up to watch New Beginning anyways, so fuck it. However I would be open to posting updates for those who don't keep up regularly.
Just an FYI, there's a special event tomorrow that Yuto-Ice is hosting called "Let's Get High" in case any of you guys wanna check it out.
The show starts with a ten bell salute to Tadao Yasuda who recently passed away.
Togi Makabe & Toru Yano def. Katsuya Murashima & Shoma Kato – 8:17 / King Kong Knee Drop
- I missed this completely, so I don't know what happened in the match.
Hiromu Takahashi's final match in New Japan: Unbound Co. (Hiromu Takahashi & Taiji Ishimori def. United Empire (Fransesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young) – 9:40 / Bone Lock
- We kick off with a video package of Hiromu's tenure in NJPW. (Personal Note: I'll miss that pink haired crackhead in New Japan).
- JAY enters with Hiromu's jacket he stole.
- Fransesco Akira has another new theme. (It sounds good from what I heard, however I like his old theme too).
- Good pop for Hiromu in his last entrance in New Japan.
- Hiromu and Akira start, the crowd is completely in Hiromu's favor.
- Hiromu uses the ref to give a hurricanrana to Akira.
- This was very fun. Go watch it.
- Post-Match: Hiromu and Ishimori celebrate before Hiromu says goodbye, however Akira attacks Hiromu. Akira takes a chair to Hiromu, and before Akira could deliver the blow, Robbie X makes the save, leading to a Hiromu-Chan bomber. X and Ishimori prop Hiromu up so he can celebrate and properly say goodbye.
War Dragons (Drilla Moloney & Shingo Takagi) def. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Henare) – 9:24 / War Dragon
- This is the first time Shingo has been back in action since January when he injured his ribs.
- The Empire attacks before the bell. We officially start with Shingo and Henare, but Shingo tags out quickly after.
- O-Khan wraps Drilla's taped bicep around the bottom buckle and hits it with a chair, and then wacks Shingo with it.
- Go watch this. At this point, I'll just be saying go watch the entire show when you get the chance.
- Not gonna lie, this was surprising to see Drilla and Shingo win.
- Post-Match: Drilla grabs a mic, and announces that he has Re-signed with New Japan. Chris mentions that Moloney will be a part of New Japan Cup this year. Then Shingo grabs a mic, and says they're gonna keep fighting in this ring. Nagai also joins the celebration.
Never Openweight 6-Man tag titles: Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi) & Boltin Oleg def. TMDK (Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.) – 12:20 / Doronemu
- Fujita accompanies TMDK.
- We start with the meat slappers.
- These guys can't have a bad match. The final 3-5 minutes were insanely tight and intense.
- Post-Match: The champs celebrate before leaving.
Global Title #1 Contendership match: Andrade def. Gabe Kidd – 14:20 / The Message
- Gabe goes through the crowd during his entrance.
- The crowd is on Gabe's side.
- Very hard fought match.
- Post-Match: Andrade celebrates, but tries to show respect to Gabe, but Gabe just rolls out of the ring. Gabe is shown bent over in the exitway, and I'm not sure if he was crying or not. This could possibly be his last match if he doesn't re-sign with the company.
- Andrade vs Yota Tsuji (Feb. 27th, Main Event of NBUSA)
Callum Newman def. David Finlay – 13:53 / Prince's Curse
- Callum Newman has a new theme & longer jacket. IMO it's alright, but better then that Naruto spin-off theme.
- Zane Jay accompanies Newman, Gedo accompanies Finlay.
- Newman also has a new staff he carries to the ring now.
- Unrelated, but Hiromu joins Japanese commentary for the final time.
- Very hot start to the match.
- They brawl on the floor.
- Zane gets wiped out at one point.
- Post-Match: Newman taunts Finlay by holding his sword on Finlay's chest, like he slayed him. Newman then stares Gedo down before leaving. Finlay is left in the ring with Gedo. He gets slightly emotional and bows to the crowd. He then embraces Gedo before he goes to the floor, apologizing to Hiromu who is on Japanese commentary. (This shouts he's leaving).
Hiroshi Tanahashi enters prior to the Never title match. He has some breaking news. Due to the success of Wrestle Kingdom, Dominion on June 14th will be broadcasting on TV Asahi. Tanahashi asks that Osaka gets sold out as well.
Never Openweight title: Ren Narita def. Aaron Wolf – TITLE CHANGE – 2:08 / Hell's Guillotine
- Narita enters without a shirt and with a leather jacket rather then his usual trench coat.
- Douki, Yujiro and SHO attack Wolf on the entrance ramp while Dick distracts the ref despite being before the bell (there's nothing a ref can do about it prior to the bell ringing).
- Wolf gets a slam, but Narita kicks the ref down. Cue an attempted House beatdown, but Wolf takes down all four guys until Dick distracts and Narita low blows.
- This was a horrible H.O.T shenanigan speedrun.
- This is Narita's first title win in New Japan, and Wolf's reign is done at 37 days.
- Post-Match: Hontai save Wolf from further beatdown.
IWGP Heavyweight Tag titles: Knockout Brothers (Oskar & Yuto-Ice) def. Shota Umino & Yuya Uemura – 19:37 / KOB
- As soon as KOB enter, shit hits the fan. We legally start with Yuya and Yuto.
- Umino is heavily booed throughout the match, so much so that there's a loud "KOB" chant.
- Watch this.
- Post-Match: Yuto taunts Yuya, who's still laid out after the KOB. Oskar and Yuto embrace and celebrate. The lights go out, and a video of Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Ricochet calls out Taiji Ishimori for Feb. 27th, as well as GOA challenging for the IWGP tag titles for NBUSA. Yuto then says that he accepts.
- Upcoming Matches: Knockout Brothers vs Gates of Agony (Feb. 27th), Ricochet vs Taiji Ishimori (Feb. 27th)
IWGP Heavyweight Title: Yota Tsuji def. Jake Lee – 23:40 / Gene Blaster
- Just a reminder: Yota Tsuji's next match will be against Andrade El Idolo on Feb. 27th at New Beginning USA for the Global title.
- Clean start, though some shenanigans take place.
- This is the type of match that you need to watch for yourself to get your own opinion on.
- Jake Lee desperately tried having an Anime-esque villain return during the final moments, though it didn't work.
- Post-Match: Tanahashi hands the Heavyweight title to Tsuji as Lee is dragged by his hands and legs by two YL's to the back. Tsuji says that they have found Lee's truth, and that he looks forward to seeing what becomes of Lee going forward. He says it may not be the time to say it, but he has something to say. He calls out Bushiroad, claiming that they put their lives on the line, and that's the resolve of every wrestler for New Japan, and that they express their lives in that ring, and he wants that lion mark to shine brighter. Tsuji claims that he wants New Japan to be bigger. This gets a "Yota" chant going. "It's time for the fans and the wrestlers to create, so are you ready?"
- He then calls out all of Unbound Co. to the ring. Shingo, Drilla, Robbie X, Gedo, Ishimori, Gabe, Oskar, Yuto and Nagai enter the ring. Tsuji also calls Hiromu into the ring. The crowd loudly chants for Hiromu. Tsuji: "Whatever happens to you in the future, you have my heart". Hiromu thanks the crowd, and is getting a bit emotional, and claims he's fired up from Tsuji, so he'll speak his mind. He still wants to win the IWGP Heavyweight title as a Jr Heavyweight, however he doesn't think he can, and he hates himself for that, but just as he was thinking that, he felt that he could leave with no regrets for now. He doesn't know who will accept him, but his dream remains the same. He thanks the crowd for 16 years, says goodbye and gets the crowd to chant "Motto!". All of Unbound do the fist bump, and then Yuto is balling his eyes out. They pose, and Hiromu's theme plays one last time. Photo's and selfies are being taken. They celebrate and throw Hiromu in the air. (Note: David Finlay was the only one not there).

Just a side note Narita has one the TV and the 6 Man titles before
Gabe was not out at the end either
Thought it was an excellent card with a so so mainevent that’s going to create too much discourse
Yuya showed why he is the man in ring with that closing sequence, thought andrade put in a shift. Really liked callum v finlay too. Finlay will be missed
Hiromu got a very nice send off too. Very nice comparatively with some recent ones where its felt like njpw has been like “you go now”
The year continues strong for the lion
> (Note: David Finlay was the only one not there).
Gabe wasn’t there either. Also worth mentioning that Yuto could not stop crying at the final Hiromu sendoff (which I see as a very good and endearing thing).
Looking forward to the rest of the year, if this is a sign of things to come. Fantastic show.
The 10 bell l salute was after the pre show match
Can’t remember the last NJPW main event as poor as the one tonight. Was the funniest match I’ve seen in some time. Who knew the secret to repairing a leg was stomping it?
Rest of the card, at least that I saw, was great though.
Really excellent card and everyone did what they needed to do and then some. The main was a little too goofy maybe, but I enjoyed it and like the way Lee and Tsuji interact with each other. Excited for whatever comes next because things are headed in a good direction, and especially excited for the Cup.
“Yuto-cryce” was great in the end. You can’t make me hate this guy.
You know Hiromu was probably pissed at that Dominion announcement.
And yeah, that tag match was incredible.
Wolf/Narita kicked ass and im excited to see Wolf take his NEVER title back at dominion (i’d imagine)
Narita winning so fast was perfect. It gives Narita legitimacy as the new HOT leader but does nothing negative to Wolf because he got so obviously screwed
For clarity: **the Yuto-Ice thing is a radio show broadcast.** It may have a live video feed of Yuto and host Miki Motoi but I don’t think that’s been announced either way; it’s the first episode of a new format type that NJPWWorld is doing so we just kind of have to wait and see.
It also will not have English translations, nor do I expect it to ever get translated.
After a show with so many people leaving, I’m so happy Drilla resigned
The main event was lackluster and the crowd didn’t seem too electric either. The finish was funny and Lee did a good job with his character work leading up to this match.
Hope they’ll have some interesting implications for Shota-Yuya after that loss but I’m tired of expecting anything. It was a good match, tho not nearly as good as the #1 contender match. I didn’t hear any overwhelming boos for Shota but I am aware that Osaka has usually been pretty hard on him and that the English commentator side’s mixing is sometimes off.
Wonder where they’re going with Wolf next. I hope they’re not putting him into an endless HoT feud. Good for Narita to get some gold. Hopefully they’ll ease up on the HoT crap and let him work an actual match or two. There are other ways to cheat too! Not everything has to become a gank fight.
Jake Lee was so bad man. Tag title matches were great at least.
Can’t Gedo quit the bullshit and PLEASE turn Shota already?! FUCK.
Sorry for the many mistakes in the post, I have a busy day today and tried to make sure I got the important details more then anything.
– Love Narita, so i can’t ever really be mad about him winning but I do wonder if taking the title off Wolf so soon is a wise decision. Still, Wolf got put over by how much HOT shenanigans it took to get the Belt off him and the NEVER Title has always been one that’s been hot-potatoed.
– Seems that Finlay & Gabe are on their way out (as many as suspected for a while), following Hiromu (with Finlay perhaps *actually* following him to WWE with EVIL, if those rumors are true).
– KOB are such an awesome thing for NJPW and have single-handedly revival rides this tag division.
– I’ll probably always be a Jake Lee defender but I still think no one has made him look as good as Kento Miyahara did in AJPW an the main event continued to be proof of that, imo.
God damn it Shota.
That main event was not enjoyable.
So where is David Finlay going???
Was kinda cool having Yota bring out the faction. Similar to how Naito would bring out LIJ for them all to celebrate.
Damn it, am I starting to like this new group???
Finlay leaving makes the dissolution of Bullet Club and his taking a secondary role make more sense. He knew he was leaving and secured his guys a spot in a new top faction. I feel like that was the first sign he was out the door. Best of luck to him in WWE.
Good for Drilla. Of the potential BC exits he’s the one that felt like hadnt hit his NJPW ceiling yet.
Justice for Aaron Wolf
I for one enjoyed the main event. The match told a story beyond just about anything NJPW has managed in the heavyweight title scene for years. Lee was actually scary once he got desperate and started trying to really fight at the end.
A final War Dogs vs Unaffiliated Fight or UE vs Gabe/Clark/Finlay/Drilla with Gabe/Clark/Finlay stretchered out would have been way cooler
KOB are phenomenal, I think they are the new best tag team in the world. I want to see them defend the belts against a team like Jetspeed at Forbidden Door.
Overall mid show for me personally, maybe I expected to much because the card was so stacked.
Ren – Wolf was disappointing. Of course booking the title on Ren could be the right booking decision and the way he won protected Wolf, but at least try to establish Ren a little bit as the new HoT leader. Give him a look, entrance, in ring style.. anything.
I love KOB so much and I’m really glad that they defended again. I posted this often, but I wanna say it again. We need strongly booked tag teams and KOB got the potential to be the Center of that division. Also with UE, War Dragons and Bishamon you got a lot of cool options for new challengers. But I’m really surprised Shota/Yuya didn’t turn. They lost 3 times vs KOB in a pretty heated rivalry and nothing happened? No betray, nothing? Does that mean kayfabe wise they are just way weaker than KOB?
Wasn’t a fan of Tsuji – Jake, Jake just doesn’t click for me, honestly. But that could be just me.
