Quaker instant oatmeal – Japan vs US taste difference

I know that this is a niche topic, but has anyone noticed that the Quaker instant oatmeal sold in Japan tastes so different from that sold in the U.S.? In Japan, I eat it almost everyday with almond milk, honey, and fruit and it tastes great. I’m visiting the U.S. now and tastes really strange here in comparison. Maybe I’m just imagineering it.
