Bicycle renting or purchasing in Tokyo

Hey there! I recently moved to Tokyo, and was exploring the neighborhood over the weekend. I realised how much walking would be required for even seemingly close distances, and it's super easy to cross 13k steps if you want to go out of your way even a little bit. As such, I'm considering getting a bicycle.

I wanted to know if it's better to rent or just straight up buy a bicycle here. I've seen a few bicycle renting companies, but the prices are all over the place, so I wanted to know if there's a good baseline I can look for.
