How often do you eat out / take out for lunch and dinner?

A couple of months ago I asked everyone about breakfast, and it was really fun to see the differences. Post here.

Having lived in several different countries I’ve noticed that eating out or getting takeout versus cooking at home varies a lot. It seems to come down to the culture and the cost of food / labor. For instance back where I grew up in Europe, I’d say 95% of dinner/lunch meals are made at home.

In Asia it seems to vary a lot on the country. In Vietnam it seems people don't eat out quite as much compared to Taiwan or Bangkok for instance.

In Tokyo I expected people to eat out or grab takeout much more often, especially considering all the bento and prepared foods in the supermarkets. However after speaking with my Japanese colleagues, it seems like the split is actually closer to 80% cooking minimum versus 20% eating out.

What's your experience? I’m especially curious if you are single and living in a big city. I do not include lunch at the workplace, where many people will eat out / grab something for the supermarket.
