What are your guys experience with applying for PR earlier than 10 years, for the case of being married to a Japanese?
So I was always under the impression that 10 years in Japan was the requirement for PR application, but have learned recently that there is an exception for people with spouse visa. Specifically, it says living in Japan for three years with the spouse of visa you are eligible.
I am currently in a three year spouse visa (I have renewed once) and will be renewing again towards the end of this year. No problems with my life on paper as in I have a stable income, I have lived with my wife together, etc..
My idea is to apply for spouse visa renewal in October and presumably get another 3 or 5 year visa back.
Should I just forgo that and apply directly for PR at that time?
Should I apply for both simultaneously?
Should I apply for spouse and wait to get back a 3 or 5 year visa then apply for PR?
Should I just wait until 10 years of residency?
Edit and FYI: Major mistake on my end waiting this long too apply; If you have a 3 or 5 year Visa, are marriaged to a Japanese, and have lived in Japan legally for atleast 3 years you can apply for PR. I should have done it the minute I met those requirements, and am doing now. As of April the PR submission requirements and fees will change and get stricter it sounds, so if you are eligible and haven't applied yet now is the time
