I’m considering applying for the JET program this hiring cycle. I’ve been dating my Japanese boyfriend for a year now, and of course he’s a motivation to some extent for applying to this job (I’m American). However, I started studying Japanese six months before I met him on a language exchange app, and already had an interest in a future career in Japan. I tutor the international students in English at my college and it’s a blast. I meet the requirements to apply, I’m just wondering if anyone has any input as to whether I should mention him or not?
Like I said, I’m passionate about the job itself as well, so I don’t want them to think I’m just using this job as a visa ticket to see him. I am perfectly fine with the fact we could easily be on the opposite ends of the country.
