I forgot to give my own, but when I’ve come back from America I’ve found a lot of success with the Trader Joe’s mini totes.
博多通りもん and 萩の月 are on top of my list!
My ex-coworker went to London & got me a small big Ben statue. Small fridge magnets from the place if it’s an internationally known place.
This only works if it’s a few people on your team.
Whenever I have to go to Saitama or Tokyo for work, I like to stop at Ōmiya Station for *Gokabō* (五家宝). Admittedly, the young people in the office are always a bit perplexed by them, but everyone else likes them well-enough and it’s sort of become my thing at this point. (I used to live in Higashi-Matsuyama and freaking love Gokabō.
If I’m going to Tokyo for personal reasons, I’m usually taking a bus which means stopping at Futaba SA, so I buy *Kikyou Shingenmochi* (桔梗信玄餅) which are always well-received, but they are a bit on the pricey end. Thankfully my office is small.
*Tsukisekai* (月世界) were a hit from Toyama, but also too expensive to buy regularly. *Kaichin* from Kanazawa was also a hit, especially with the women because of how cute it looks.
The biggest hit I have ever had was [Habutae-Kurumi](https://habutaekurumi.com/) (羽二重くるみ) from Katsuyama, Fukui. Honestly, it’s one of the nicest sweets I’ve ever eaten anywhere and it really sucks that I no longer have any opportunity to go to Katsuyama for work. I’m planning a personal trip in May.
I have definitely developed a reputation for having the most 渋い taste for omiyage in the office, but I’m fine with that. Better something actually local and interesting over the umpteenth generic creme sandwich cookie or 〇〇のたまご or whatever.
I’ll never say no to a classic Tokyo Banana
But will sell my soul for a box of wicked little Hakata Torimon
My company sent me a big variety box of those drip coffees, think there was 40ish bags in total. Was great actually, not the best coffee but decent enough that the wife and I polished it off in a month.
Kurumi habutae from Fukui! I love them so much I already ordered from their website twice.
