Hello, I'm moving to a new place in Tokyo and I'm thinking about changing internet provider, I've been using JCOM for the last couple of years and found it a bit underwhelming, having often connection cuts during online meetings at work hours.
I'm looking a prices and promotions and NURO seems good, but upon further research it turns out that they use a different optic fibre than NTT so it might be needed to drill holes or something.
My question is, since I can't enter at my new place right now (move-in is in a few weeks), does it make sense to make a reservation with the internet provider to have them come and check at that time? Or can I possibly ask the real estate agent what internet providers are supported in my new building? My original plan was to cancel my current internet provider and contract a new one, but since I can't know for sure if it can be installed, I'm worried that I might be a few weeks or months without internet at my new place.
Anyone had a similar experience or can offer tips on how to navigate this situation? Thanks

i wanna say your internet provider is irrelevant, most except for nuro should be able to utilize the fibre optic cable which is most likely already set up in your building
just pick any to your liking and have them come set it up for you after you get the keys
Before signing a lease, ask the real estate agent what types of internet connections are available in the room.
The worst-case scenario is when the real estate agent has installed internet equipment and a provider for the entire building as a package, with LAN cables wired to each room. In this case, you cannot freely configure the router placed at the boundary with the internet. Furthermore, it is often the case that you are not permitted to have fiber optic cable run directly to your room.
Clearly ask whether fiber optic cable is already run to the room or whether such installation work is permitted.
