I've been out of the loop with NJPW for a few years now..
Have NJPW done other deathmatch type events similar to the DEATH Invitational in Vegas recently?
Also is the DEATH show going to be in a tourney format? Or just a regular card of deathmatches with NJPW stars?
I'm heading to Vegas and grabbed tickets as I love deathmatch shit.. guilty pleasure haha.

This is El Desperado’s side show, not connected to New Japan’s main continuity. This will be the 3rd show of its kind and the first outside Japan. It will more than likely be a mixed card with DMs and normal matches with men and women already confirmed.
The Despy shows are NJPW-adjacent. He’s done two before, both in Korakuen. The second one was a “Death Pain” (which is a pun on the pronunciation of “Despy”) show and featured a main event of El Desperado vs. Jun Kasai in a deathmatch.
No card has been announced, but there’s no indication it will be a tournament. It will likely be a grab bag of talent but will include one or more deathmatches.
These Desperado shows have some of the best matches on the under card.
I’m not the biggest death match fan or a fan of it at all.
And even I’m impressed by the Death Match Main Event.
I highly recommend attending if you can.
This will be the very FIRST Desperado produced showed in North America & the US.
It’s a side produced show by El Desperado no technically not a NJPW show. It’s like a side show that will have help of production etc with NJPW similar to like Blue Justice or Taichi & Taka Mania shows etc.
Depends if they gone do a tournament but I reckon it just going to be a card full of matches.
NJPW has done some extreme style matches over the years but few and far between. We have had the Dog Pound Cage matches, Ladder matches, barbdwire matches and other hardcore/Deathmatch style. El Desperado vs Clark Connors for the Jr title last year was either a Deathmatch or a Street fight rules.
