Currently I've got a bit of debt on my credit card (Yes yes, be better with money, you dug this hole, get out of it yourself, thanks I know). In the US, you can sometimes do a balance transfer and get 0% interest rate for a limited time. (My understanding of a balance transfer is that you take the debt that you have in once place and move it to somewhere else, different bank or card.)Are there any companies that do this in Japan?
Follow up question: Family and I are thinking to leave Japan soon-ish. We're thinking to move to Portugal. Are there any companies that do balance transfers that make it easy to pay from abroad?
Ideally: Move out of Japan with support of our families while paying on the credit card debt online without worrying about accidentally getting locked out and needing to visit Japan because we need to be here in-person to unlock the account or whatever.
Any alternative ideas or recommendations on where to find more infor are also welcome.
