I found the perfect share house room 5 minutes away from a major station in Tokyo. I saw pictures of the apartment but not the room. I followed the website guidelines and made an account to apply for it. It was very detailed and asked for my residence card too.
A few days later I get an email telling me that my booking is confirmed and I should pay in the next two days. I haven't even seen photos of the room. The contract is for a year.
I emailed them the same, didn't get a reply back until they reminded me on LINE and I told them that I sent an email, please reply. They told me to send the message over on LINE. Then they reply with this:
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but due to the current high season, we are temporarily suspending property viewings until April 5.
We kindly ask you to consider making a reservation without a viewing.
Thank you very much for your understanding."
Is this a scam? Or normal for Tokyo? Perhaps I missed a whole step before the application. I'm moving from Osaka and I just can't believe that they don't even think it's necessary to send pictures, let alone arrange an online viewing.
