If and when Kevin Knight comes back to NJPW would he still be considered a Junior?

In AEW Knight is more or less treated like a "Heavyweight" so when he eventually shows back up in AEW would he still be in the Jrs. division? Like would he be going after the Jr. Title or the Heavyweight? Would he competing in Best of the Super Jr. Just a question I've thinking about.

  2. AEW doesn’t have weight classes at all. It’s basically an Openweight promotion. In NJPW, Kevin would still be a Jr.

  3. He confirmed that 2024 was his last Super Jrs because he wants to be a heavyweight. I think he really does want to work the G1 but I doubt he’ll make enough appearances for New Japan to consider him

  4. I don’t think many of the AEW guys, even the smaller ones want to be considered Jrs. The only AEW people that did BOSJ were Wheeler when he was brand new to AEW and Nick Wayne who is a teenager.

    What possible reason would be come back. He was a tag guy in Japan, and barely an important one. His title reigns were small holdovers before the much more important Catch 2/2 vs War Dogs feud and the rise of Ichiban Sweet Boys.

    He was never even close to getting the ball as a Junior, and even less likely to get the ball as a heavyweight.

    He is now getting main event matches in AEW vs Swerve and is involved with top guys like Hangman. He has a chance of being a star over there, so IF he came back he would have to be treated as such and I don’t think he is important enough to New Japan or the Japanese fans to warrant it. Save the special appearances for the Will Ospreay’s, Okada’s and Kenny Omega’s of the world that have major cache with the fanbase.

    Kevin Knight certainly isn’t coming in for a longer run either.

I kind of miss heavyweights being heavyweights 😅 I feel like the junior to heavy thing in puroresu started with KENTA and Marufuji having to move up in NOAH, and it’s been pretty common since (especially with gaijin for some reason). I guess I just like more delineation in the “weight classes” even though it’s pretend fighting 😂

  7. He’s getting big money in USA, why would he go back to Japan? There are enough great wrestlers in New Japan to put on a great G1 Climax, which I assume would be the only thing for which he’d make the trip
