I plan to take a week-long trip to Japan next month and I am looking for travel recommendations. I have been once before, but this will be my first time travelling there solo and as an adult. My only plans when I first thought of the trip were to visit the Pokemon Cafe in Tokyo, visit the Nintendo museum in Kyoto, and look for cheap, secondhand retro video games and game consoles and other gaming related stuff while I'm there (It's a big nerd-out trip). I have a reservation at the Pokemon cafe, but I didn't even think to reserve a ticket to go to the Nintendo museum, and it appears to be too late now, so I only "need" to be in Tokyo now. I know that secondhand stores in Tokyo tend to hike their prices up compared to stores outside of Tokyo, so I am still interested in maybe travelling to another city while I'm there, I just don't know where. I also have no idea what part of Tokyo to stay in. I only spent a day in Tokyo when I first went, and we spent most of our time in Akihabara, so I would like to explore other areas, but I would also like to stay somewhere that's relatively cheap (another reason why I'm considering spending some of the trip outside of Tokyo). Any recommendations/tips would be appreciated.
