I'm playing my first solo adventure to Japan in September, was going to go next month but can't get the time off I wanted.
I've looked at the JR pass and using the calculator I think it saves me around 5k yen to use one for 14 days
My question is not cost but convinence, Is it actually useful? One of my colleagues said when he went it was paper and he had to stop at every turnstile and get a guard to let him through, whereas normal tickets just pop in to a gate.
Also if I lose it somehow can I get it another one or would I be up the creek?
Sorry to be asking about the pass, all I could find searching was about price comparisons!
