A complicated situation.
Someone in my office needs to be fired.
More than a handful of complaints, a few colleagues stating issues of mental health as a result of this person, inappropriate temperament around colleagues, flirts with the one senior colleague who could do something about "it", constantly complaining out loud how much they hate the decisions that are made, purposely misses work on crucial working days because "they hate it"… and this person just doesn't really seem to care one way or another.
Now, firing someone in Japan is a tough process. This person is on a yearly renewable contract (only been working for 3 years, so under the 5 year mark), but even deciding not to renew requires a reason that can hold up in court. I feel there's enough complaints and concerns to warrant a review of their contract renewal, but I'm guessing the process is not so easy.
Just curious if there are any HR-type folks who could chime in who know the Japan labor landscape, or others in similar situations where said person was removed without the company facing lawsuits or whatnot.
