My older son just turned 3 and I was prepping his vaccine paperwork for the 日本脳炎 (Japanese Encephalitis) vaccine which I will get for him soon. Then it occurred to me …
I didn’t move to Japan until adulthood and I’ve never been vaccinated myself.
Anyone get this vaccine as an adult?
We visit in-laws in the countryside often, and do outdoorsy things like hiking and camping where we often get mosquito bites commonly. I’m thinking maybe I should get up to date on this vaccine myself before mosquito season. (Though I’ve lived in Japan for more than 10 years and it never occurred to me until now…)
Anyone have experience finding a place that vaccinates adults?
I’m sure it is probably a bit more involved than simply asking my son’s pediatrician to jab me too (though they do that for the flu shot); they probably don’t have adult vaccines for that in the office. Probably costs some money as well; I wonder if it is expensive?
Grateful to hear of any experiences.
