Is it advisable to learn Japanese as an additional skill?

I'm an Engineering student who wants to learn a foreign language as an additional skill. I have a great interest in Japanese language and culture so I thought I'll learn Japanese professionally and get certified. However, there aren't many people who learn Japanese in India and all those who want to learn a foreign language choose French or German. So choosing Japanese feels like I'm an odd one out here. The main reason I chose Japanese is because I know I'll enjoy the learning process despite the difficulty of the language. But I'm hesitating to take the next step because the question "does learning japanese really help your career?" weighs down on me. I do not intend to work or settle in Japan and I feel like there's really no point in learning the language if you don't want to live there. What do I do? should I go with it or should I choose a different language?
