[3 nights] Kumano Kodo with a 6-month-old

Our family of three (with a 7 month old toddler) is traveling to Japan for 4 weeks from Mid-May to Mid-June.

The first part of the trip will include Kyoto, Hiroshima (and some highlights around Hiroshima) and Nara. We will end the trip in Tokyo.

In early June, we plan to spend 3–4 nights hiking along the Kumano Kodo Trail. We’ve found a place to stay in Hongu-Taisha. We’ll be driving there. Since we’re traveling with our baby, we’re limited to easier, one-day hikes. So far, we’ve identified the hike between Hongu-Taisha and Hosshinmon-oji that should be doable. A boat tour on the Kumano River is also an option.

We’re looking for 1–2 more similar hikes or other highlights in the area that are suitable for children (and preferably accessible by car). Does anyone have any tips for the area?

Thank you!
