Hey, just recently got my spouse visa renewed using the online system. All in all from the day of submission to getting my new card mailed to me was 21 days.
For anyone who hasn't tried the system yet I would recommend giving it a go, but please be aware it's quite jank in a very distinct japanese way. For example you need to upload a photo for your id card, however if you don't need to upload a photo (for whatever reason) they make you download a blank jpg and reupload the file.
The English translation is also done with AI and seems off in a few parts so please check it in Japanese as that seems a bit better.
You will get emails during the whole process letting you know what is going on so that was comforting knowing I hadn't gotten lost in the system.
My visa came back as just another one year one, it wasn't unexpected but still kinda a bummer. My wife and I each clear 500,000 yen a month post taxes so we had hopes we would at least get a three year but no dice.
