  1. What’s the difference between using りゅう(竜) and たつ(龍) when referring to an eastern dragon?

  2. 明日あまり早く起きない — in this sentence, why does ない come at end of sentence following 起き and not following 早く?

  3. I’m at the end of Minna no Nihongo 1. Any good resources for revision, or anything else worthwhile to do in particular before moving on to the second beginner textbook (outside of the other MnN books I mean)?

  4. I have been studying N2 Vocab with a deck for a while now, but it’s just the words with their meaning in isolation. I really want to switch to a deck that has example sentences and native audio. Needs to be N5-N1 inclusive at a minimum, but if it could go further that would be good too. Any recommendations?

  5. Hello! I’ve been learning Japanese for a month and a half and I have constant fears that I’m doing it irrationally. What advice does anyone have? What should you avoid?

I recently bought minna no nihon textbooks and now I am going through them. I have a feeling that I can be more effective in my studies than at the moment. It is very important for me to study as much as possible this year for the MEXT College Scholarship. If I don’t pass it, I’m still going to go to study in Japan for money. In short, one way or another, I need to increase the level of proficiency in 2 years without wasting time.

  6. I’m playing Final Fantasy 4 in japanese and I came across this line 「あんたがセシルか!かつやくはきーてるぜ。なーにゆっくりしててくれ」(Context: You just arrive on a ship and talk to the captain). I have no problem with this exchange but what I don’t understand is what function the なに has in the second sentence, but I understand that it means something like “Just relax a bitt, ok!”. Why was the なに added?

  7. Hi, i’m playing some VN in Japanese, I would like to add the words I’ve put aside into anki, would it be better to add them to an already existing deck or would making a deck specific for that game make them easier to remember through the association?

  8. hello everyone, I have two questions,

1- what does オチ mean here? in the dictionary entry it says punchline of a joke. which doesn’t fit here. snd google translate seems to ommit it.

2- could someone tell me what is being said exactly? i feel every dictionary somehow doesn’t make it make sense. i know the words but cannot exactly figure out if he is quoting or talking about himself. (he tricked some classmates into betraying a friend in a 人気投票, his friend was concerned that he would be in trouble, he then explained why they can’t come for him, and then these two panels came).

  9. そこで俺は一拍の間を置き、メンバー4人を見回した。そして声を潜め––

    is 一拍の間を置き 一泊のまをおき ?

  10. 妄想を**拠り所**にして行動した結果、取り返しの付かないことになったらどうするのか、って言ってる

since 拠り所 means basis, foundation and support, or something to rely on

can you interpret it as “to be based on a delusion” “to support a delusion” “to rely on a delusion” in this context?

  11. Hi all! I have a question regarding Minna no Nihongo (みんなの日本語) and the renshuu A sections of the red books, how are you meant to use this section? I’ve been trying to find information online but I can’t seem to find anything at all which is baffling me 😩 am I just meant to make sentences with the words in the red boxes or am I missing something completely obvious…?
