I contacted clinic which is located only 10 minutes from our home to ask if they could handle my wife delivery. They asked for Zairyu card and insurance card, we already have documents. Then the clinic asked whether my wife could speak Japanese. I explained that she cannot, but I told them I will accompany her every time she visits. I will also be present during the delivery, which this clinic previously (during first checkup) said was allowed for father during delivery.
Now I call the clinic for childbirth, the doctor refused to handle only because my wife does not speak Japanese. The doctor told us to contact a “big hospital” instead.
Location: Ibaraki prefecture, near sakai machi
Question: This is our first time in Japan, how we find clinic for childbirth as foreigner?
*However, after checking online, we found that the nearby public hospital does not handle deliveries at all.
