BM Visa backup plans… possible to get PR on J-FIND Visa via point system?

Hi, this is my first time posting on reddit.

I'm currently on the J-FIND Visa (been on it for 1.3 years now) and applied to the BM visa basically a week before the rule change.

I've previously been on a 3 year humanities visa but I made the jump to J-FIND a year into it thinking I could transition into BM visa and build a company here. The rule change was concerning and I have been waiting to hear any news at all about my visa application for 5 months now.

I've lived in Japan for a total of 3 years now. I'm worried if I don't get the BM visa I need to have a clear back-up plan.

Back when I was on a humanities visa I was not near at all enough points to apply for PR. I just did a recalculation now, and I have about ~100 points. (Even if they don't grant some points, it's enough leeway to hit the 80. N1, age, university, salary etc.)

I'm curious if there is any glimpse of hope into applying for PR while I am on J-FIND or any other potential route I haven't considered? If it is possible to apply for PR using the point system on BM visa that would be helpful to know. Has anyone heard any stories or have any suggestions for this situation?

My backup plan(s):

1. work corporate again for a friend's company while running my business and apply for PR

2. Move back to the US and run my company there (I currently live with my Japanese boyfriend but he wouldn't be able to come live with me)
