As a Japanese person, I’m curious how people here usually decide where to eat when visiting Japan.
Do you mostly use Google Maps? Tabelog? Reddit recommendations? Ask locals? Or just go by photos, vibe, or whatever looks good nearby?
It seems to me like online ratings can be a little misleading or annoying to sift through. Have you ever gone somewhere because of high ratings and felt let down? Or stumbled on a great place that was underrated?
Just genuinely curious about what the experience is actually like.
