There’s always a decent sized gap after the bigger shows and especially before and after tournament but do the benefits actually make a big difference? I assume it’s to give the wrestlers a good break especially since strong style is considered to be harder on the body and it’s not like they don’t deserve time off to be with friends or family but sometimes to me they feel too long. Plus wouldn’t the breaks kind of slow down momentum if they are picking up some steam?

Well this how they’ve done it for decades and they’ve managed to survive thus far so they must be doing something right.
How can we miss you if you don’t go away?
One thing I love about new Japan’s schedule is the fact they take breaks. It gives enough space for talent to take a break & for the company to sort out there next plans
Japanese wrestling is tough. It ain’t called strong style for nothing. So regular breaks let the talent rest, hit the weights, and enjoy the fruits of their labor.
They don’t need to adhere to a weekly tv show format since don’t have a lucrative TV contract unlike u.s. promotions.
It’s a touring company. They need to take breaks so they don’t wear out their market. Japan isn’t a big country like the US, so they can’t travel the country the way WWE does. They don’t have the kind of wrestling culture that Mexico has, so they can’t run lots of shows in a small area and still sell tickets.
The physical wrestling style is a part of the reason, but wrestling is wrestling. Whether you wrestle like Ishii or Miz, you’re destroying your body. The touring schedule is 99% for business.
Huge benefit to the spines and knees of their wrestlers
In my own personal opinion, with New Japan not being bound by week to week tv booking, they’re able to pace out stories appropriately. I think as far as momentum goes you don’t have to do as much to sustain it. You’re not overexposing your talent as much. It’s easier to build up the talent in the long run because it’s not about the short term attention of what are they doing this week.
